Pymetrozine, also known as pyrazinone, is a pyridine heterocyclic insecticide with a new structure. It was discovered by Syngenta crop protection Co., Ltd. (formerly Ciba Cargill company) in Switzerland in 1988. It has been developed for the control of aphids, whiteflies, leafhoppers and all kinds of planthoppers on various crops. Due to its unique insecticidal mechanism, Pymetrozine has become a hot spot in pesticide production and development at home and abroad.

Pymetrozine has excellent activity against aphids, planthoppers and whiteflies. It has the characteristics of high efficiency, low toxicity, high selectivity and environmental ecological safety. It is especially suitable for resistance control and integrated control, which is in line with the development direction of pesticide. Since entering the stock market in 1997, it has been registered in more than 10 countries and regions, such as Turkey, Germany, Czech Republic, Panama, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, the United States and southern Europe. The Ministry of agriculture of the people's Republic of China has listed Pymetrozine as a key pesticide for the promotion of pollution-free pesticides.

1.2 physical and chemical properties of Pymetrozine

Pymetrozine is a colorless crystal, melting point 217 ℃, density 1.36 (20 ℃), solubility (g / L); water 0.29 (25 ℃), ethanol 2.25 (20 ℃), n-hexane, < 0.01. Stability: stable to light and heat, stable under weak acid and weak base conditions. DT50 was hydrolyzed for 4.3 days at pH = 1 and 25 days at pH = 5.

Pymetrozine is a new non lethal insecticide. Its preparation can be used to control most of Homoptera pests, especially Aphididae, whiteflies, leafhoppers and planthoppers. It is suitable for vegetables, rice, cotton, fruit trees and a variety of field crops.

1.3 action mechanism of Pymetrozine

Pymetrozine is a representative of pyridine heterocyclic insecticides, which has a unique mode of action. Once the insects contact with the insecticide, they stop feeding immediately, and the process is irreversible physical action. The research of EPG technology in the laboratory shows that the "oral needle blocking effect" will be produced immediately by three ways: drip, oral and injection (contact killing, stomach poison, and in vivo conduction). Pymetrozine has the ability of internal absorption and transmission in plants. It passes through the parenchyma of plants and enters into plants. The phloem and xylem of plants conduct bidirectional transmission to the top and to the root. Pymetrozine is also an environment-friendly insecticide. Toxicological data show that Pymetrozine has low toxicity to mammals, and is safe to most non target arthropods, birds, fish and predatory mites, and its metabolites are leachable and have little pollution to groundwater. Therefore, Pymetrozine has excellent performance in integrated control (IPM).
